BACKGROUND

One of the most rewarding parts of creating brands for small businesses is the ability to reach into my community and make an impact by celebrating the abundance of talent we are often surrounded by. I was overjoyed when Sal from Your Best Friend’s House asked me to help create a new identity for her community focused e-commerce brand, Your Best Friend’s House.

The focus of the brand is all about supporting and celebrating independent makers and artists with shopping small being at the heart of what they do. The brand needed to reflect that small business feel, with a welcoming energy to show and support all different kinds of makers, as anyone and everyone can feel that they are at home here.

When thinking about your best friend’s house, it feels like your second home. It is quite common to have your own key to your best friend’s place and this design plays on this idea with the two flower characters acting as yourself and your best friend. The keychain design also plays really well into future merchandising and promotional products which was important when thinking about how to further develop the brand.

With Your Best Friend’s House representing the hand made and championing creativity, the illustrations have been applied to help strengthen the connection between maker and consumer. Over time the illustrations can be added to and adapted to suit the trends within the industry, to highlight how Your Best Friend’s House is at the forefront of shopping small.
